Lately I have been seeing celebrities wearing strapless dresses with tshirts, blouses, etc. under them. Personally, so far a lot of them look a little tacky. Maybe I just haven't seen it look cute yet or maybe I have and didn't realize it. Any who, I wanted to know what you all thought about it. Oh yeah, here's a link to see some if you haven't already: http://www.instyle.com/instyle/trends/thel…0152456,00.html

Yeah, it is not a look I would go for but if you can pull it off more power to you. It also has to represent your personal style / personality. If you notice the pics they are all pretty subtle & it looks as though that is the key.

I would wear dresses with straps over tees/dress shirts, but not strapless.

I've seen dresses with straps and tshirts and some of those are cool. It depends on the type of straps.

You are right; subtlety is the key. I saw a lady in church last week, she had a strapless dress with a blouse underneath. But it was bulky and she looked very uncomfortable. If you’re going to wear this type of thing, you gotta just go for it. Or leave it to the ladies in Hollywood, NYC, etc…

I think, this style looks great on skinny to medium-built women. Full-figured women will look awkward in this attire.

I’ve seen the look, and for some reason, I’ve never seen it look anything but cluttered. It just looks like there’s too much going on. To me, a strapless dress makes its own statement and adding something underneath, well, just doesn’t look right.

Did anyone see the last pic with the tank top under the dress?  I thought that was pretty lazy.  I mean, it looked like her boyfriend’s
wifebeater or something.  Also, I wasn’t fond of SJP’s striped tee under that nice dress and jacket.  But the other two looked
nicely pulled together.

I don’t know that I’d do a full dress over a tee, but I’ve been known to rock a jersey strapless top over a graphic t-shirt if I’m going SUPER casual - I think it looks unique!

I think I dislike the look due to the fact I live in Utah.  The young women and girls want to wear these strappy or strapless dresses but they aren’t modest enough so they throw on a T-shirt underneath.  I find it ridiculous.  However, I do wear some dresses over pants, and THAT can be ridiculous to some.

I tried this cute little “ah-la” SJP trend once in the comfort of my full length bath mirror after purchasing a really cute dress from her collection at Steve & Barry with one of her T’s.  Concepts was there ..... so after I finished laughing myself silly, I returned the hysterical outfit to Steve & Barry.  *Note: her clothes are well made and I was impressed, but just not enough room in the trunk for a chick like me.
