I don't always keep up with the designers' names. One reason I read Budget Fashionista is to educate myself on the current styles and hot names. A trick you can use if you don't know the designers' names by sight is check and see if they have a theft prevention device on the item. TJ MAXX and Marshalls put this on the stuff they don't want you to steal so it is probably a designer item.

i like places like tj maxx for the finds but i dont think this is necessarily true. ive been to many and some places only have the sensors on handbags, dresses, and coats. other places have them on some clothing of different ranges. (a roxy shirt?) i think most of it is based on the location if they have a problem with theft and the employees discretion. ill ask a friend who used to work there and post the answer.

I used to work at TJ Maxx, and that's definitely not true. The sensors go on any item of clothing priced over a certain dollar amount (when I worked there 8 or 9 years ago it was $29.99), regardless of who made it.
