Like it or not, celebs frequently set the trends (or more accurately perhaps, their stylists do). This year there were a few big influences, but I'd have to point to Katie Holmes as one the biggest -- and weirdly, the quietest -- trend-setters of the year (remember the bob haircut, the rolled jeans?). But that's just what was on my radar -- who do you think was the biggest celeb style setter of 2008?
The person who made the biggest splash (in my book) is not technically a celebrity at all!
It is the future first lady Michelle Obama. She takes risks with fashion, plays with style rules, and it defining a new image for the role of first lady. She has sparked fashion frenzies and set trends - you haven't really seen that since Jackie was in the White House. I am willing to bet designers are dreaming she will just wear an item from their collections so they get noticed and sell out!
Of the celebrities mentioned so far I think Rihanna was the biggest trendsetter in 2008. She dared to dress in a way no one else did and I really liked her style tough she overdid it from time to time.
Katie Holms was another trend setter this year I think. She brought back that classic style and her hair style was also awesome.
Little Suri can also be seen as a trend setter in the kids league :-) Her dresses were simply adorable!
Michelle Obama has totally changed the way we think about fashion and who's fashionable. I love Katie Holme's style-but Katie is not a "real" person in that she has stylist to help her. Mrs. O was just being herself and inspired a lot of women along the way
I would definitely say Reese Witherspoon... I love her simple and classy yet fun style.
I thought the dress she wore to the Oscars... different look for her but it worked!

Beyonce is fashionable, but when things go bad, they go really, really bad! Long ago I used to like what Sienna Miller wore; now it seems almost shameful to admit it.
