I have never shopped at Kohls because Target is so much closer for me in the SF Bay Area. Can anyone who has shopped at both compare them for me?

Grazie!

I LOVE Kohl's. I find tons of great deals there. Their clearance sales are fantastic. There is a wide variety of quality there. Some much better than Target's quality, some the same or worse. I have gottten good deals on jewerly and handbags as well as clothes. I always stop into one when I an in the neighborhood. I NEVER pay full price there - you don't need to - it will go on sale soon.

Ok, even though they are both "department" stores they offer different merchandise. Target offers everything from soup to Bridal Gowns [see Isaac Mizrahi] where Kohl's sells things for the home & clothing [shoes & accessories].

Personally, when I want clothes I go to Kohl's. Though Target offers Isaac, their Go International line & such the offerings are not a good match for me - whether it be in fit or quality. Kohl's offers it's own line lines like Target including some designer lines - Daisy Fuentes, Adidas, Nike, Columbia, Chaps & if when I read is true - Vera Wang will be designing a line for Kohl's as well.

Just my take on things!

Thanks for the input, ladies! I was so curious yesterday that I drove some miles to check out Kohl's…the parking lot was empty…and I thought…uh oh…I can never find a spot at Target on a Sunday.

But as I went through the store I thought it was as both of you have described. Lots of variety and good prices. It doesn't have the flash or buzz that Target now projects but I must admit that I thought Kohl's seemed fine if a little Sears-like.

Today's New York Times has a good article that coincidentally enough focuses on Kohl's.

Kohl's right now is my favorite store. Their clearance is fantastic, and it's not picked over (at mine, anyway) and more often than not they are running 70% additional off the lowest price marked! I have had good luck with some of their Apt. 9 pieces, but I'm very selective about what I do get, you can tell what isn't high quality.
