I have about 20 bottles of perfume with different levels of product in each bottle. Most of them are variations of the same scent. They are taking up too much space in my refrigerator. How do I dispose of them? I don't think I can just pour them down the drain.

That's a good question. I never really thought about that. A couple of months ago I got rid of some myself. I had a hard time emptying them out since they were spary bottles. Eventually I got fed up and just put them in the recycling bin and let the city take care of them.

I don't see any harm pouring them down the kitchen sink but that's just my opinion. How about flushing them? I'd be curious to know what you find out for future reference : )

I found one site (http://extension.missouri.edu/xplor/wasteman/wm6004.htm) that says to flush it down the drain b/c it's flammable and toxic ("capable of causing injury or death through ingestion, inhalation, or absorption through the skin").

"'Flush down drain' indicates that a product can be poured down the drain with plenty of water. Contact your wastewater officials before pouring to determine if this recommendation is suitable in your area. If you have a septic tank, additional caution should be taken. Read the product label to determine whether the product might damage your plumbing or your septic system. If you are uncertain, see if the local wastewater plant will accept the product, or save it for a household hazardous waste collection. Never mix wastes while pouring them down the drain. Always pour small amounts at a time to avoid splashing, and flush with plenty of water."

Of course, another option is to donate them to a women's shelter.

I like the idea of donating them.. I probably would have tried to mix them together to see if I could create a new scent.. but that is just me…

Didn't know you could donate perfume. I thought they only lasted a year. I guess if you don't like it after a couple of months donating it would be a great thing.

I totally second the idea of mixing them up.

Wow - next time I'll donate mine. I never thought of that. I flushed mine down the toilet figuring it would at least if nothing else, make it smell nicer. lol
