The Budget Fashionista

hi everyone…i’m new here and i need some help dressing for a wedding this weekend. 

i have a dress but i’m having trouble “jazzing it up”.  the dress is plain…it’s cotton, solid maroon (like a wine color, i guess you could say), 3/4 sleeve, comes to my knees with a cinched waist.  i have 2 pairs of shoes i’m debating on wearing…black ballet flats or black peep toe wedges.  i want to wear the flats but i feel like i need tights or something to pull it all together.  the wedges look ok with bare legs but i’m not just crazy about them.

so what kind of tights can i get that would go with a cotton, maroon/wine colored dress and black flats??  should i just stick to plain black pantyhose?  (the wedding is at 3pm, reception starts at 5pm.)

Okay, I’m not sure how dressy the wedding is, but for an evening reception I’d have to say that flats are probably too casual, and would go either with the peep toe wedges or, if you have an extra buck or two, a pair of peep toe pumps (super cute pairs are out there right now at Forever21, Payless, Target), and if you go with stockings, I’d definitely wear black pantyhose, though with peep toes that’s tricky too—better probably bare legged.

To jazz up the dress, a wide black patent belt might do the trick, with a fab jet bead bracelet and or earrings. Don’t know if you have a budget to pick up extra pieces, but you can get them cheap, as I said, at Target, Forever21.
