I have read though Paula Begoun’s book, Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me.  She has a website that offers some of the information regarding her studies into the cosmetics world.  I have always appreciated anyone finding out the good vs bad in any product, but she actually explains what certain key ingredients do and what’s effective.  She reviews products on all price ranges, so you can decide for yourself what will work with your budget.  She has a line of skincare and makeup for sale on her site aswell.  I have ordered plenty of samples from her, and have enjoyed trying out different products that are plainly labeled and described.  I would recommend any BF’s to check out her site, read her reviews, see what works for their budgets.  I don’t sell these products, BTW, I just really like her stuff.
Thanks, Jenn

She is such a great money saver. I love that gal!

I have had several of her books since her first one about blue eyeshadow being illegal which I got way back when, and EACH edition of her books has saved my WAY WAY more money than the purchase price of her book.

I got her latest in January when it came out --and I’ve gleaned a ton of useful up to date info.

In fact I was on a hunt for a good bargain hydroquinone product, and happened to mention a particular brand I was looking for to the cosmetic lady behind the counter at London Drugs and got a lecture (they hate her because she tells the truth!) when I told her I was looking for it because Paula recommended it.

She went on about how Paula slams innocent brands, and how hard it’s been selling stuff with her book out, and I thought, HEY! I’m here READY TO SPEND MONEY BECAUSE OF PAULA!

But looking around showed me some of the pricier brands that Paula advised against (and a few she recomended, plus the bargain brands that Paula said were just as good) so I really saw where THAT complaint was coming from.

Paula’s books are a great bargain hunters resource to finding the BEST out there.

I am big fan of Paula’s as well and I hope to interview her for Shoptalk. She is a treasure of information/ I also like the Kevin Aucion books, which are not budget friendly, but teaches you how to wear makeup. I think if more folks knew how to wear make-up, then most people who know to avoid false beauty claims
