I think hats look great on guys in general (and I don't mean baseball caps -- they look fine, but I'm thinking more of the fedora/driving cap/etc. variety), but you don't see men wearing hats all that much in everyday life. So I'm wondering, what's your take on hats for guys, and are there any styles (BESIDES ballcaps) that the regular everyday guy should consider adding to his style bag of tricks?

When I'm formally dressed and it's not too hot, I wear a top hat. I even bought a pack of small craft feathers so that I can match the feather to my shirt or tie. It looks awesome with my greatcoat. I used to have an Ushanka, which worked great for when it was really cold and I was wearing my army surplus trenchcoat, but that got lost.

I do wish I could find a good fedora that fit (Indiana Jones rules). Heck, even a trilby or cowboy hat would be something I'd wear occasionally.

Love hats on guys, especially when they're stylish, old school pageboys and fedora.. Not a big fan of the recent too big baseball cap look that makes guys look like they're 12.

Metalhead- try kangol (www.kangol.com) great fitting hats for a solid price. Also nordstrom rack has a nice selection of high end hats for less

I love the way Samuel L. Jackson looks in his caps.

I must admit that I don't know much about men's hats, but I do like fedoras sometimes. However, I think it depends on the man's personal style.

Huh, I'd always assumed that kangols were luxury items, since only celebrities seem to wear them. I'll definitely take a look at both of those!

Most of the men I see either wear:
1. military uniform hats...this is good
2. ball caps...OK at sporting events, but PLEASE take them off inside
3. cowboy hats (not here, but in ND and SD...OK if you are a real farmer or rancher)

so, KUDOS to men who will put on a different kind of hat to make an ensemble. Fedora, top, the old dress hat my dad used to wear, maybe even a beret....go for it.
