The last couple years of designers partnering with low-to-mid level retailers to create affordable fashion for the masses has bee a godsend to us budget fashionistas—and while Luella did get on board with this to take part in the Go International line at Target a little while back, the Luella line at Urban Outfitters (the UK online version) is not a budget venture.
Which is fine, I suppose, as Urban Outfitters is not strictly a budget retailer, but it does leave me wondering a little over the identity crisis some retailers seem to suffer—are you budget? Mid-level? High-end? Urban Outfitters is mostly in the affordable range, but they scatter in higher-end designer collections, I suppose in an effort to widen the market for themselves . . . but I think such multiple personalities can leave consumers (and media) confused (which is touched on in this item from Catwalk Queen: http://www.catwalkqueen.tv/2008/08/luella_has_hit.html ).
Would you head to Urban Outfitters for Luella? Or do you go there strictly for cheaper trendy pieces?
