I'm more of a bareMinerals girl. I only have a good skin day if I'm wearing it :)

I have gotten several mineral makeup samples. I don't wear eye shadow so I mostly chose foundations or finishing powders. Here is some information:

www.meowcosmetics.com : Will send any samples for $1.00 each in a small plastic bag.

www.lotusminerals.com : Will send you 3 foundation samples for $6.35. Choose either warm or cool. Then choose light, medium, or dark. They will send you three of each. I actually chose 2 samples (light and medium warm) for $6.35 with no problem.

www.everydayminerals.com : Will send you a custom makeup kit for $3.97. You select up to 5 items - can be a combination of foundations, blushes, eye shadows, lip color, brow colors, concealers, or finishing powders.

www.signatureminerals.com : Will send you a free sample kit for $5.35. You select up to 6 items - can be a combination of foundations, blushes, eye shadows, concealers, or finishing powders. My favorite, so far.

For me, the verdict is still out on mineral makeup. I am over "that" age (40+) but I have incredibly oily skin (genetics) which works in my favor. Because of taking oral contraceptives, I have melasma so I do need some sort of foundation. Mineral makeup is great for oily skin because it doesn't melt like liquid foundations. In fact, it gradually settles into my skin and looks like I'm not wearing any makeup. When I wash my face at night (with my Aveeno cleansing pads), there is no makeup on the pad! I like looking natural without trying to look natural.

Can someone explain briefly to me why mineral makeup is so popular? I see that even Laura Mercier has added some to her line. My sister-in-law and niece swear by Bare Escentials but I have always assumed that powder would accentuate wrinkles. Obviously I am not grasping the concept behind this make-up trend.

Thanks.
