Most fashion mags and sites, it seems, cater to the younger, "trendy" fashion set -- so I wanted to hear from mature fashionistas on where you go to get fashion/style information and inspiration that's appropriate to you and your lifestyle? Also, would love to hear other thoughts on the subject . . .

There is a mag called MORE on the newstands here, and it caters to the 40 and over group. Their fashion segments are fashion forward but tasteful in a way that most older women would be comfortable with, but still have an edge. I don't buy it, the fashion segment is small, easy to read in the checkout at the grocery store, and the rest of the articles are usually pretty brief too. Worth a look though.

I watch 2 Canadian shows-- Fashion TV with Jeannie Becker, and Cityline TV's Fashion Friday, both out of Toronto and both plugged into the Eurochic look, featuring Canadian designers and some imports. These shows are really good, they pull the looks from Paris, London, Milan, Montreal and New York as well as Toronto.

The stylists on Fashion Friday work out looks for all age groups and sizes from stuff we can get easily.

Some of you might be able to pick it up if you get any of the A channel or City TV channels in the northern USA. It's worth looking for.

When I get the chance to go to Vancouver, I can look in such shops as Max Azria's BCBG, Chanel, Femme du Carrier, Town Shoes, The Bay, Chapmans, La Vie En Rose, and Holt Renfrew. There are American shops such as Banana Republic which have good stuff for all ages. Coach bags and Danier leathers.

Do I shop there?

NOPE, not in my budget,

but I can look and see how the high end shops interpret the coming season, and since most of them sell to my age group, it's a double plus. By going in and checking fabrics and finishing details, then I can get inspired with what I have, looking for a few new things in Winners which is one of our discount places.

I should add, I often buy In Style, Vogue and Elle to see what the trends are, and even though many of the models are wearing them in ways that I wouldn't it is still a good education for the eye.

I tend to look at fashion mags only as a guide. I try and incorporate the look, taking into consideration my special fashion challenges.I look at catalogs also. Just my size gives me ideas.
