I love my husband in his corduroys! They are a perfect match for casual office attire and look great with button up shirts or a pullover.

1. White Polo Shirt

Really? And at #1, no less? Pray tell, what is the significance of a white polo shirt?

I mean, I've got a pretty huge selection of clothes, possibly even including a mostly-white polo shirt, but never in a million years would it occur to me as an essential. Maybe if I played more tennis, or had attended prep school, or something...

A classic dark suit. If you can't do that at least a decent pair of dress pants.
A decent long sleeved dress shirt.
Black shoes appropriate for a suit.
An outerwear coat that works with a suit or more business attire clothing.

I see the suit with Rockports or the suit with a parka. It looks so terrible.
Suits can be expensive, but my hubby found three in his hard to find size at a garage sale for $5 a piece. They were designer suits from a lawyer going into semi retirement and moving. My son found a really nice three piece at a thrift store, it was extremely good quality. I still have a custom made silk smoking jacket made in Hong Kong (has the original owners name in it) that I found at a thrift store. Both of them are hard to find sizes, so with some effort nice suits can be found for cheap.

Here's another hint for guys.
Do not buy a cheap suit jacket. I saw a guy when we were out recently. He had an outfit that looked really nice from a distance. Patterned tan sportcoat and black pants with a black tshirt. When he was closer and turned around the back of the jacket was wrinkled and bunched up around the back vent. The fabric was so light weight and cheap that it had bunched up when he sat down and stayed that way. It totally ruined the look and even in a dark nightclub you could see that his sport coat was cheapo.

Wow. I'm a cheapskate, but that's terrible, especially given all these stories of really nice suits and jackets showing up at garage sales and thrift stores.
