Are there limits to what types of accessories a "mature" fashionista can/should wear? Do appropriate accessories change over time? Or does it all depend on your personal sense of style? Tell me what you think . . .
I think it comes from your own sense of style. Accessories are what make the outfit. They HAVE to relate to the person, tell a story about you, be an expression of your heart so to speak or they don't do what they should.
I don't think there is an age limited style, but some things I might avoid just on the grounds that I don't think they add to my best look.
I'm with the Napper! Wear accessories that express you! Hippy/Boho Queen that I am, I like dangly earrings, sterling silver, vintage jewelry (don't forget the enamel flower pins), and vintage scarves-especially Vera scarves.
When we grew older and become more matured, the accessories and fashion will speak for us. The way we present ourselves very important. I think mature women should look more respectful and more elegant with dignity...(wow, it is too much???) But its true, you cannot just wear any accessories that make you look like children buying a jewelry sets for her Barbie...
But you must also careful with the choices of accessories that might make you older than you true age!
I think that as long as you keep your base outfit classic and super-flattering, and you don't overdo the accessories, then there aren't too many limits. I've seen mature women in classic clothes wearing chandelier earrings and leather knee boots, and the look was youthful without being silly.
right! It's like pulling off a trend look, putting one trend or at most tweo, to liven up the classic base wardrobe no matter what age you are, that looks great.
I wear whatever accessories please me. Actually, I have a lot of vintage stuff because I'm a pretty major accessory packrat. I've still got a lot of original '70's, '80's and '90's stuff and it's all coming back into fashion again. Mostly, I'm careful about not dressing too young. I'm of an age where some looks just look silly, and I don't think there's much sadder than an middle aged woman dressing like a kid.

Maybe there's little sadder, but just as sad is the middle-aged woman giving in to age and dressing like a fat old frump. There is no excuse for women to let themselves go. You can still wear fitted, flattering clothes and fun accessories and feel young without looking silly.
I like big shawls over a plain white shirt. Shawls are amazing: they hide faults, they travel wonderfully, they dress up the plainest outfit, and they look daring and jazzy.
I also like a sharp-looking hat, but as they ruin my hair I don't wear them unless it's for something where I don't take it off for the entire time I go out, llike to church. I have several in basic colors to go with everything.
Being new here I will just jump in. I have recently started to accessorise, I had never done much in the way of anything before until my Az friend Di, started me learning about gemstones, and rocks and minerals. You may ask how did you get from study to accessoize? . Well I found ebay and JTV, looking for good priced jewelery. I began with rings I liked them so well I tried to find things to go with the rings. All the while thinking what I had in my wardrobe. That is where I started then I found I added interesting pieces that also reflects my mood. This is my humble beginning...hats?Shawls? Who knew? I am just in my beginnings as a BBW, and fashionistia. You will have to mentor me along please!
