Found this handy stain removal guide on thefabricofourlives.com: http://www.thefabricofourlives.com/fabric-smart/Stain-Removal-Guide/?S=fabric-smart for stain removal on cotton fabrics. I know I always need help in this department, and the one stain I can NEVER get out is tomato sauce, so I’m anxious to try these tips. Curious though, anyone else have any great stain removal tips they’d like to share?

I swear by Carpet Power (http://www.ozkleen.com.au/products/carpet.php). It’s taglin is “Shock! This product actually works!” My housemate has 2 little kids and I think that they have just recently discovered the magic of a ballpoint pen. ;) I came home one day and saw lines of black scribble all over our suede ofa. We only got around to cleaning it a few days later, but Carpet Power has removed all pen stains. Definitely great for pet stains too. My dog likes to nap on the sofa and gets it dirty, and Carpet Power works all the time.

I believe you can use Carpet Power on other things, like clothes and other fabrics too.

I found the best stain remover ever!  It even got out the pasta sauce from the new white shirt. It’s, wait, let me go find it and see:

I got it at my lingerie shop and it is awesome! Blood, wine, tomato sauce… no problem. I’ve started getting it as a hostess gift. A small bottle is $7 and you only use a drop or two for a stain, so it lasts a long time. And it’s safe to use on your most delicate flimsy lingerie.

I’m from Canada so the products might be different or under different names but here goes.

Shout gel stick can be applied to most stains up to a week before washing, which is useful in an ordinary laundry cycle of life sort of way. Even in the hamper, it is dealing with a lot of stains.

Then there is Oxi powder. I mix it up with very hot water, and put the item in to soak, for really bad stuff. My new front load washer has a steam cycle to remove stains which works well, as does it’s dedicated Oxi cycle.

Oxi takes out a lot of organic stains. Tea, blood, chocolate, grass, and ketchup/mustard/balsamic vinegar etc.

For greasy stains I rely on the Sunlight 3X concentrate. I get it for my washer which needs the he stuff, but you can use it to dribble onto any greasy stains and they go away.

What I usually practice at home for tough stain is only adding ‘Baking Soda’ with my detergent. Its easy and its free!
