Hey all! I am a new member on here and I was hoping for some advice before I leave the country. I am leaving soon to study abroad in London and they have instructed us to pack light. I am also aware of the some what unpredictable weather over there, which makes packing a challenge. I have never been to London before so I am hoping someone has advice! What should I pack? What do college students wear over there?

Thanks! I can’t wait to meet everyone!

Hey Shoefreak- I just came back from London and it was fab.. some thoughts

1. Definitely read our series of posts on british style to give you an idea of what they’re doing across the pond
2. Jeans are big, especially fitted and colored as well as scarves. Scarves are everywhere. Make sure you bring an umbrella and a pair of wellies. target has cute versions. There’s these checkered scarves that you can purchase for $5 that are very in.
3. Primark, Primark, Primark… especially the one on Oxford High Street (near the Oxford circle tube on the red line - there’s a closer one but i can’t think of it). It’s the cheapes place to shop in London
4. A lot girls were wearing strapless cotton dresses- almost like 80s prom dresses- either with a cardigan over it or a t-shirt tank under it.
5. Flats were in as well as well as prints that don’t match, but are of the same color family

Yes, definitely bring an umbrella. I’d look for a small and light umbrella--even if you have to pay just a bit more. You’re going to be carrying it everywhere and you want it to fit nicely in your bag without hurting your shoulders.
