There are a few go-to outlets for reasonable and stylish plus size fashion (like Lane Bryant—though their online offerings seem pretty narrow; Torrid.com—which is great, I think, for the younger trendy plus size girls; and Macy’s seems to have good plus size options) but are there other great stores that you can get plus size clothes at decent prices? Or is there still a serious lack of budget options for plus size women?

I’ve seen some of the plus-size things at JCPenney, and they’re practically replicas of the stuff in the misses department.

Don’t go to Kohl’s for plus sizes...they’re hopelessly matronly.  :P Some of the best plus sized stuff I’ve found is at the typical off-price retailers: TJMaxx, Marshalls, Ross, Burlington Coat Factory, even Target.  It’s hit or miss of course, but I’ve gotten lucky on many occasions, and have scored some great pieces.

Overall I think the fashion industry is WOEFULLY lacking in plus size fashion.  Even though we’re 60% of the female population, it’s like we’re invisible. :( Lane Bryant really has a corner on the market, you’d think that other places would follow suit.  Go figure.

I hear Target is expanding their plus size business.  I’ve also been to some Macy’s lately that actually don’t have us big girls relagated to some far off corner of the store!

I’ve found the cutest tops, shoes and skirts at Cato ...

...also, Ashley Stewart has gorgeous plus sized fashion (although the blouses and tops tend to be way too low cut for my taste).
