With the cost of living going crazy high, I’m finding that I need to depend more on accessories to update my summer wardrobe than ever before (since I can’t afford to go out and buy a bazillion new actual garments this year). I’m kind of liking the big daytime cocktail ring right now and, of course, the giant off white patent hobo purse I got for $20 at Target. Are you in the same mindset, and what accessories do you think are particularly hot this season?

I’m an accessories type of girl all the time unless there’s a base piece that I need (like the two stretch button-down shirts I ordered to replace one that went missing in the wash- don’t ask). Accessories are an amazing way to keep up with trends and add interest to outfits. If you get bored, just get new shoes, or a new bag, or some new costume jewelry.

Honestly, when it comes to accessories, I don’t care about what’s “hot” right now. If I love it and it flatters me, then it’s “hot” for me and it will stay “hot” for as long as I need it to. I always go with my signature things: dangly earrings, berets, and headscarves. And when I tie my headscarves, I always do them in a way that really flatters me and feels very exotic, even though it’s not what everyone else is doing.

I seem to be drawn to big, chunky bracelets.  About 90% of the time I wear one of 3 different pairs of earrings (I love the look of dangly things but hate the feel of them) and rarely wear neck jewelry (although I do love the look of a very light summer scarf around the neck, I haven’t tried it).  I tend not to wear much for rings, either...although I have some nice ones...probably stems from losing the stone out of my grandma’s opal years ago.  So bracelets seem to be what I change up and certainly you can get some fun bracelets for not too much money.

I am definitely in the accessories mindset!  My favorite accessory right now is my large white tote.  I am obsessed with it!

You can call me accessoryholic, as I go for the hot trends and has a huge collection of sunglasses, gladiator or diamond sandals, bright colored flats, multiple silver and gold bangle bracelets, some multi-colored necklaces, leather belt to accentuate some dresses and colorful nails polishes and so on.

I’m really gold jewelry lately. I like wearing a very simple gold chain with a more embellished, colorful charm. Besides that, you’ll never see me without my watch and two rings.

I prefer gold colored jewelry over silver. The gold is more flattering with my skin.

I’ve purchased a pair of black and a pair of gold flip flops with beading on the thongs from Target. They look nice and were cheap. But get the right size, or they will cut into your feet. I learned that the hard way. Bought a half-size too small in the gold and my doggies were crying.

Other than that, I’m recycling the same old stuff I wear every summer. Except for when I see a cool pair of cheap sunglasses. I can never resist those!

Add sunscreen and my straw hat, and I’m good to go.

I think for me, for this season, the best accessory one could use and that is cheap is colorful makeup (especially eyeliner) and headbands. Those two things with large earrings (as I love to wear) make for a cool summer look.
