My #1 fashion tip is to accessorize.  Accessories can
instantly add beautiful detail to any outfit. With an array of belts,
bangles, scarves and earrings to choose from, you can create several looks
without breaking your budget - so stock up!

Does anyone have a signature accessory? Something that people might identify as your style?

Mine are berets, headscarves (tied in the Jerusalem way), and dramatic earrings. Aside from the fact that I LOVE what they do for me, they’re cheap and easy to find.

My fashion advice is wear clothes that fit you now, and not last year.  Buy clothes in the size you are at them have them altered if you loose inches!

Machazait, I love that you wear berets. They’re darling, but I see them on people so rarely.

My signature accessories are all vintage. My favorites are a chunky gold and black necklace my mother used to wear in the ‘80s, and a green Bottega Veneta belt I found on eBay for 20 bucks (!).

As for my essential fashion tip, I’d say you should always buy the best quality clothing you can afford. A well-constructed garment will generally last longer and fit better than one that’s poorly made, so I tend to shop the sales of higher-quality stores than buy items at retail at cheaper places. Online coupons are a huge help, too; I always check sites like retailmenot.com before I make a purchase online.

And on an unrelated note, don’t be in denial about having wide feet. This is something I’m just getting over, and I have the bunions to show for it!

Enjoy shopping but try to add some common sense practicality to it!  The expression “fashion hurts” refers to your bank account too.  if you are just shopping for therapy, you may save your self a lot of money by just going to see a therapist!  Lets keep it practical out there.  If you don’t have Donald Trumps budget than a more practical approach is required.

Of course, but every woman enjoys being a girl now and then.  These days there as tons of outlets that offer really amazing essentials that won’t hurt your budget and can definitely add a needed boost to last year’s quality goods.  The key is to find balance, variety and add a bit of spice, no?

Absolutely, a girl needs her shopping.  If we take that away from her there would be mass global chaos!  Moderation is the key.  I see so many people impulse buy without putting any though into it whatsoever.  Even when its casual shopping , I suggest trying to keep in mind what you might need to complete something you already have in your wardrobe.  For example, a top that needs the perfect skirt to finish it.  Instead she buys another top that needs a skirt.  So now she has two tops and no bottoms to go with them.

Oh the quandaries we fashionistas get ourselves into!  But when there’s a sale, there is always a way! Two shirts means two bottoms and that doesn’t seem like much of a problem.  :-)

About the berets… Thanks. I love them.

About quality… I agree, but you also have to consider your lifestyle. I’m a mommy with two little ones, so most of my clothes have to be the inexpensive types that I can just throw into the washer. At the same time, I need good things that will hold up.

About feet… I wear a 9 1/2 wide or a 10 medium. No way would I suffer for the sake of narrow shoes. I need to walk.

Good point, I think it’s about having the right clothes for each part of your life. I wouldn’t recommend wearing your finest when you’re caring for a little one, but making sure that your pieces are well-made will help them hold up through a million machine washes. Still, you definitely don’t have to spend a fortune to get quality clothes.

I’m sure I’m preaching to the mommy choir, though. :)

I love head scarves!!!! (I tie them differently however.) Also, headbands and crazy earrings.

You know what!? I think that the most fun accessory one can own is false glasses!!! If you haven’t tried them yet, you must!!!! They’ll make feel like a whole new person!

Aside from the large square scarves that I use on my head, I LOVE oblong scarves. I have one that’s long and wide enough to cover my head, but I also have a collection of regular ones that I like to drape around my neck. And I actually have a couple with designer names on them, but designer name or no, they were too pretty to resist, and they were on sale for a total of $38.
