Would that we COULD always use a list.  Sadly unless you are REALLY disciplined this system usually breaks down because of clever marketers who know how to get you to purchase impulse buys.  It’s a noble goal to aspire to!!

When it comes to shopping - if there’s any hesitation, I just don’t buy it lol

Know what you need, either by a list or a friend. If you shop with a friend, don’t let her railroad you into buying something that doesn’t work or passing on something that does work.

Research the product.  The internet is a great source for information.  I visit great sites such as this to see what works for other people.  Another great site I use it youtube.  For those who don’t know, they have great live reviews and tutorials.  I specifically use that site for beauty products such as mascara.  When I typed in best mascara reviews, a bunch of videos came up reviewing high end to budget and for me seeing is believing.  They also indicate where they bought the product, how much they paid, and where coupons were available if applicable.  I believe I saw a post on here for great budget brushes and enkoremakeup did a great video review for brushes from coastalscents.com that are dirt cheap.  I haven’t tried them yet but I’m going to be placing my order tonight.  Another creed I go buy when buying things such as clothes or things for my home is I gotta love it.  If I don’t, I hold off a day or two and sleep on it.  If I’m still thinking about in within the next few days, I go back an buy it.

It’s also smart to KNOW what you need, unless, of course, you’re on a shopping spree, in which case, knock yourself out!

Go through your closet, pick out the items you love AND the items you love but rarely wear--and build on them.
Example:  I have these beautiful gray trousers that I love, but rarely wear because I don’t have the right shoes.  I also have a gorgeous purple sweater that I never wear because I don’t have the right bottoms.  So, I make a mental list:  I need to get shoes that will go with gray trousers and bottoms that will go great with my purple sweater.

I ended up making two purchases that I absolutely do not regret:  Nude colored patent pumps tp wear with the trousers, and a pair of cool gray jeans to pair with my purple sweater (and purple suede ankle boots, which also didn’t get much wear until now).  The best part, both of my purchases work with everything else in my wardrobe.

In general, it’s important to make your purchases count.
Shop on!

I definitely bring a friend to keep me from going overboard
with purchases. It’s also nice to get an opinion on the spot
rather than get my shoes home and only have to return
them when I’m not totally sure of them myself.

Thanks

Terry
