Hello:) I have a cotton shirtdress that is really cute, but I have no idea
what shoes/accesories to wear w/ it. Im short, so I definitely want to wear
some type of sandle w/a heel. I know (I think) that this is more of a day
dress b/c of fabric and style, Im just not sure of much else. Thanks sooo
much in advance! A pretty accurate pic can be seen here:

That dress is adorable. I love shirtdresses myself. Yes, it is more of a daytime dress.

It looks like the skirt falls to the knee, which means that at least 1 inch of heel is necessary to maintain proportion. Since the dress is more daytime, the shoes should be casual, but a more refined style would work best. Sandals or thongs with a little heel would look great. So would espadrilles and wedges.

I always accessorize with earrings, and bold earrings would look great with this dress. I think a statement necklace would be too much with a shirtdress. The sleeves look like either half (elbow length) or 3/4 length, so bold bracelets would look good also.

I hope this helps.

I agree with Machazait, especially on the espadrilles or wedges. I’m thinking, too, to add a little interest a wide belt could be cute and make a statement. Just a thought!

A belt would look really good, but I think you need to be careful with that one. Unless you have a very straight, slim figure, it’s best to go with a subtle belt that doesn’t contrast too much. If your waistline is an asset, a shirtdress would look great with a fun belt.

I totally agree with the belt idea!!! I like a color close to ivory with dress for accessories and I think that a big pair of shades will look great!!!!

I like the espadrille wedge suggestion. I’d pick one in red to make it pop against the navy.

Navy and red make a great fashion combo

I love shirt dresses and I have several.

I never use the belt it comes with. How about going over to Target and looking for a loosely woven leather or even a loosely woven hemp belt? Pair it with some sort of high heeled sandals --the espadrille wedges are great.  Also, if you can’t find a belt, use a sash --as in brightly colored silk sash --preferably a summer print. And… big earrings --how about some hoops?

One last thing. Check that bottom button. They tend to stretch and become unbuttoned after we drive or are sitting along and have to get up.

You can also use a long chain as a belt if you like.

If you’re using a dramatic belt with the dress, go with earrings. Necklaces with a shirtdress are a bit complicated, and earrings won’t compete with the belt.
