I’ve been using Aveeno Positively Radiant series for the last few months. Before that, I’ve used Neutrogena. Aveeno is better than Neutrogena, but I’m still craving for a better skin.

Any other skin care lines that would be good?

skin care products can only do so much. if you really want better skin, you also have to eat healthy and drink lots of water. try this with the combination of aveeno and i’m sure you will get the skin that you love!

Another suggestion if you can afford it is to get a facial. I get one once a month and it has truly changed my skin plus they are so relaxing!

i’ve tried having a facial but it really really really hurts! I cry every time. the woman who cleans my face squeezes my blackheads and pimples!

Nobody should ever squeeze your pimples.  That is a major no-no.  No wonder your facials hurt.  They shouldn’t.  I would recommend not going back to her.!

Hi Curlytop

If the facialist is doing extractions then you need to make sure she’s steaming your face for a long time. The pores have to be relaxed and open. Anyway, as for skin care lines I find as I age the needs are different. If you came to my house you’d see three people at different stages of life!

My son, a teenager has had good luck with Aqua Glycolic cleanser and toner for his teenage acne prone skin. He also uses a face mask by Zia once a week, and a seaweed & algae scrub (when I tell him!).

My daughter is 11. She’s using the Avalon Organics orange cleanser and toner. Good lord, she just started her period (they start so young now) and so it’s time for her to get skin care going.

As for me, I’ve settled on the Avalon Organics lavender for sensitive skin. I also have some Elemis moisturizer that was given to me, and I like it but because of the cost more than likely I’ll go back to using the Avalon moisturizer. The big thing I use everyday is sunscreen.

I really like a few products. I have the usual 50+ redness and rocacea problem that affects a lot of women with fair skin.(redness, irritation, dry skin AND the odd zit at 50+!)

What works for me? I cleanse morning and night.

Aveeno calming foaming cleanser--which is more moisturizing and soothing than any other cleanser I’ve tried. It’s really nice and doesn’t leave that tight dry feel. I use that for regular cleansing, and I use the Neutrogena makeup remover towellettes at night to cleanse and remove makeup when I’m too tired to bother washing my face the regular way.

When I do use toner (not always but more if my skin is breaking otu a little) I use the Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion

for moisturizing, I do two things in the day and two at night,

DAY: I cleanse then I put on Olay regenerist serum, then Olay Regenerist lotion with the SPF stuff, then foundation. I use Clinique Repairwear foundation stuff but it’s hard to put on THINLY so I dab a bit more serum on my finger tips and mix with the foundation and slide it on lightly.

NIGHT: Olay regenerist serum first. Then I follow with Olay Total Effects plus blemish control which keeps my skin calm and soothed, but also keeps it clear of pimples
