Wilson’s Leather, in my mind, was a force in the 80s and not so much since—so it comes as hardly a surprise that they’re revamping to survive. Interesting, however, is the fact that they’re converting to a women’s chain, with a “Studio” concept (via this DNR story: http://www.dnrnews.com/site/article.php?id=1431 ) with a focus on accessories.
Apparently this has been tested in some markets already, with positive results. Anyone have experience in these test markets? And will you be likely to check out Wilson’s new woman-focused identity?

Well, as you know, I shop alot and I’ve seen these stores in LA- where leather still have quite a few fans- and the concept reminds me alot of the Aldo accessory stores- expensive cheap stuff. With lower priced, but high design accessories available at places like Target, H&M;, and F21..Wilson’s wouldn’t be the first place I would stop by.

Hi,

Most women don’t go for a leather product easily. They have a feeling that it makes them look duller and so am I.
So, Wilson’s leather will not be the choice for many.

expensive cheap stuff? my aldo shoes feel better and fit better and are way more comfy than a pair of cheap target shoes.... no offense, but at pretty much the same price except for 10 or 20 dollars difference when on sale for a better leather shoe, its alot more comfy shoe for at lot less cheddar than a more expensive shop:)

I love Wilson’s.  I have a nice leather jacket that I purchased a few years ago at a huge discount price.  I still wear it and it looks just a nice as it did the day I bought it.  I have not had the pleasure of a womans chain here in Sacramento but if I see one I am sure I would go in and take a look.  I had also bought a faux leather jacket from Target only about a year before that and it has hung in the closet since.  I just like the feel of real leather.
