Home shopping—and I mean QVC, HSN, etc.—is something that, I must admit, I’d never really considered. I’ve based my opinion, of course, on the 6-second glimpses I’d get of the Home Shopping Network as I casually flip TV channels. Having recently waded through some of the designer options available through these outlets, however, I’m wondering how you feel about Home Shopping networks, especially when shopping on the budget. What do you think?

I’m sorry call me a snob, but all I can visualize when someone asks about QVC and the like, is little blue-haired - polyester clad knitting genius with a universal remote, rotary phone, and a coffee stained industrial sized mug next to a recliner covered in cat hair.  I realize that’s a bit judgemental visualization.  However, in my defense, how many pieces of fabricated diamond-like jewels does anyone really need.  Ok… judgement again.  Long story short, No way.  I want to touch it.  Not that I don’t trust Paula Abdul (airport anyone?) wink wink - I just need to hold it before my hard earned dollars are spent.

I have watched HSN and QVC, was addicted to watching their shows for a long time but don’t watch any TV right now. I go to their websites and buy things from time to time. Personally I think HSN has better prices, esp the clearance stuff. QVC has better quality sometimes.
A times, you can get some spectacular deals on there, but over all, it’s comparable to other online or in-store places from what I’ve found. YMMV :)

No loving embrace to see me through
This tedious path I’ve chosen here,
I certainly would’ve walked away by now.
Gonna wait it out....

If you can stomach watching these channels when just wanting to veg out I would say that you could use the promos like you use mail order catalogues.  If you see something that looks like a possibility you can then check it out online or elsewhere.  BTW sometimes vegging out is a guilty pleasure you need to give it to but I don’t think I would ever actually buy something I saw without checking it out elsewhere.  I don’t know whether there is a pricing difference by buying directly from the TV promo vs from the web site.

Shoeshopping Goddess, that was kind of the image I had, too, for better or worse. I’m still probably not going to spend a lot of time actually watching the channel (because that can be very hit or miss) but there are some great online offerings. We’re in the midst of an ongoing series on Home Shopping here on TBF, so keep an eye out for great buys!
