It’s also smart to KNOW what you need, unless, of course, you’re on a shopping spree, in which case, knock yourself out!
Go through your closet, pick out the items you love AND the items you love but rarely wear--and build on them.
Example: I have these beautiful gray trousers that I love, but rarely wear because I don’t have the right shoes. I also have a gorgeous purple sweater that I never wear because I don’t have the right bottoms. So, I make a mental list: I need to get shoes that will go with gray trousers and bottoms that will go great with my purple sweater.
I ended up making two purchases that I absolutely do not regret: Nude colored patent pumps tp wear with the trousers, and a pair of cool gray jeans to pair with my purple sweater (and purple suede ankle boots, which also didn’t get much wear until now). The best part, both of my purchases work with everything else in my wardrobe.
In general, it’s important to make your purchases count.
