Hello all. Like Mattel’s Barbie, I made my world debut in March 1959. Not exactly a printemps poulet anymore. Of course she still looks 18 with all that plastic. My bod is hanging in there (still size 4or 6) but my hair! The red has faded and I’ve bitten the bullet and decided to meet my graying fate head on. BTW, I’m using Clairol Shimmer Lights purple shampoo, pretty good stuff. But what to do about makeup? Particularly lipstick. Thanks.

If you’re totally gray...go bold with the lips.. reds, especially fire reds look hot on women with gray hair because it offers an amazing contrast… Rich purples also work well.

Thanks Kathryn. Not totally gray yet, but you know, I never felt I could find a good red lipstick in the past. Looking forward to trying one now!

With graying hair you can definitely use bold lip color, but for a younger look you might try a deep, rich pink.  Nothing brassy but a sophisticated pink for daytime wear often looks wonderful with gray.

Thanks, I’ll try a pink too. Maybe I’ll find a pink and a red… this would be a new adventure for me. :-)

Ok! I hit sephora and Ulta, and got my lipsticks from Sephora. I got a nice pink, Sephora No 45, a pink with a hint of brown, but still bright enough. And a red, from the Makeup Forever Professional line, #207, very rich and creamy. I also picked up Shisheido lip gloss G3 Ruby Luster. So I went home happy. Thanks for the tips for my lips!
