Well, I'm kind of looking for beauty tips and which ones help you look fresh faced and you face the day with. Which budget beauty options bust the high end ones, and which splurges are really worth it… Also, what is your personal skincare secret that keeps aging at bay, and what do you wish you did when you were a teen in relation to skincare/body care etc?

Thanks guys !

My best advice to teens would be to USE SUNSCREEN...every day...on your face! ! It is the BEST thing you can do for your skin!! And my favorite is Neutrogena Ultra Sheer which feels nice, is not greasy, and has a mild scent.

The teen years are for experimenting and so it is impractical to say only buy good stuff...unless your mom is buying. Use drugstore brands to see what you like and for special occasions perhaps you'd like to use a good department store foundation but don't get caught up overspending when the inexpensive stuff will do.

If you have skin problems do see a dermatologist...they can help with teen skin and can prevent skin conditions from getting worse.

Finally the teen years are all about fitting in but don't let your girlfriends make you too conscious of your looks...or prompt you into overspending because they have bigger budgets than you might have. EXPERIMENT and FIND YOUR OWN STYLE. Once you hit college being an individual will be a REAL asset!

AND PLEAAAASE have more fun than I did as a self-conscious teen. I'm only catching up now!!

Believe or not, I don't use any particular cleansers on my face. All I use is rubbing alcohol about once a week. I got this from my grandmother who had flawless skin her whole life. I use vaseline to remove makeup from my face. I do not wear make up daily anymore. I never sleep in makeup. Eyeliner and lipgloss are two must haves. Just doing these things its rare that I have a pimple.

I’ll echo. Sunscreen is number one. For your face, neck and don’t forget your hands. Your 40-year-old skin will thank you and you will look younger when that day comes. I would also say get into the habit of removing your makeup at night. Again, your older skin will thank you. If you take care of your skin, you are still young and beautiful, you don’t need much makeup. And cared-for older skin doesn’t even need much makeup (besides, it gathers in the wrinkles!). On the other hand, you’re young, you can have fun with colors and textures of makeup that the rest of us can’t reallywear anymore.

I teach clients about skin care and makeup, and here’s my basic three:

1) keep skin clean
2) protect your skin from the sun
3) don’t smoke

As for teenagers, my best advice would be this:
1) focus on good skin care. The better your skin, the more options you have with makeup
2) don’t wear makeup until you’re allowed to as per your house rules. It really is worth it to wait
3) Once you are allowed to wear makeup, play around and have fun. Figure out what works and what doesn’t.
