Heres some not so insider info on clearance pricing at Target. The last digit of the price is the tell. If it is a 9 it is in its first stage of clearance, ie 4.99. Numerically it goes all the way down to 4, ie 4.74. Thngs that they are having a hard time getting rid of ends with a lower number. So if you find something for say 9.95 you know that the price was lowered 5 times and its probably a good time to snatch it before someone else does or play the waiting game and hope that its still there later.

Wow...as a Target regular this is so interesting and helpful. Does this apply ONLY to merchandise marked as clearance. I have noticed that there are END CAPS tucked away in corners of the drug department, etc. that have stuff priced to move...drastically reduced.

I also saw some food items marked as clearance but I was a little leery of them because of expiration dates. I wouldn't go there I think.

I dont know how things work when things are priced to move. But the number system applies to all clearance items. As for food, I would be leery too. Maybe thats why theres always so much food in the clearance section.

I worked in retail and didn't know that. Thanks for sharing. OH yeah, definitely be weary of the food.
