Sizing info by label

I buy a lot of clothes online, which is great in terms of convenience, variety, and price. The one big disadvantage I've found in ordering online is the sizing. As I'm sure you all know, sizes can vary wildly from label to label, and even within the same label. I have tops in my closet that range from extra small to large, dresses from size 4 to size 10, jeans from size 26 to size 29—and yet they all fit me perfectly!

Never quite knowing whether something I've ordered online will fit is incredibly frustrating. The sizing charts are generally of no help whatsoever. Sure, I return stuff that doesn't fit, but I still have to pay the shipping, and besides, it's inconvenient (and sometimes, if it's bought on Ebay, impossible). Ocasionally I buy the same article of clothing in two different sizes and then return the one that doesn't fit, but again, it's inconvenient, and sometimes it takes forever to get the refund.

One thing that would vastly improve this state of affairs is if there was a website that listed all the major labels and online retailers and let you know whether their clothing runs small, large, or true to size, whether you should order one (or two) sizes up or down, etc. I know it would never be perfect, because even within labels sizes can vary widely. And of course some items might run big in some areas and small in others (tight across the bust, for example, but looser in the hips).

Still, having label-specific info could be extremely helpful. So my question to you all is, do you know of any sites that list this information? I've searched on google but wasn't able to find anything, except for the occasional advice from an online retailer like Nordstroms or Net-a-Porter to order one size up or down for a specific item.

Anyway, any info you could provide on this would be appreciated.

I wonder about jean sizes. I really don't know which size I am when you have to pick waist sizes, for example 26, 27 or whatever. I buy low waisted jeans so I don't know what I am. I fit into mostly a size 4 but do have a pair of size 6.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you.
