Chinese-American fashion designer Derek Lam’s interest in the world of fashion grew out of a childhood surrounded by garments. An alumna of Parson’s School of Design, Lam founded his own company in 2002 after 12 years of extensive design experience both at Michael Kors and retail brands throughout Asia. Devoted to elegant clothes that work, Lam’s specialty are relaxed, wearable feminine clothes that are playful yet with a hint of sophistication. Lam is now the head of the ready to wear line of Tod’s and he is greatly credited for bringing a fresh spin to the brand.
