We know, hard to believe — comfortable crewneck sweatshirts are actually in style. While this might be a sign of the apocalypse (if we’re lucky, it’s the zombie apocalypse) it is actually most likely a way for fashion to incorporate an item that has long been a staple in, well, just about every guy’s closet. And if you can’t beat em, join em kind of thing.
That being said, there ARE some new rules (you knew it wasn’t going to be that easy). Mostly that your sweatshirt should actually fit (not big enough to accommodate two of you) and can be dressed up (seriously!) by pulling it on over a button down and/or wearing it under a casual blazer. In case your current go-to crewneck pullover sweatshirt doesn’t quite meet leaving-the-house standards (chili stains are still not okay), some picks for those of us on a budget:

Okay, so Ryan Reynolds has just been named the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine. Does that make him a style icon? Weelll, not exactly– but then again, if he’s really that sexy, we might want to try to take a moment to analyse what he’s got going on — he is married to smokin’ hot Scarlett Johannson after all. Quite frankly, a quick image search indicates that he spends a significant amount of time with his shirt off (which will work for some of us, but not all) … but we managed to find one fully clothed pic that might give us a leg up. Russell Brand’s favorite accessory? These days, it appears to be his new wife Katy Perry — and we can’t blame him. That being said, Brand is no stranger to accessorizing and making a fashion statement in general. We’d call his look — which has, over the years, become less about a bazillion necklaces, belts and bracelets a la 80s hair bands (with the hair to match) and more about sleek, slim modern monochromatic looks we’ll call hipster luxe. — and he’s still a man who likes a little sparkle and shine.
