DO
Choose a solid color, floor length gown
Black-tie affairs require floor length skirts, so any cocktail dress is out of the question. But the fact that a dress reaches the ground still doesn’t mean it’s appropriate. To make sure your look is elegant, select a gown in a solid color– no stripes, no animal print, no polka dots, etc. Rhinestones, sequins and other embellishments are a great way to stand out, but stay away from florals and tie dye.

Many of the rules and myths governing petite dressing are as outdated as a pair of spandex stirrup pants.
Don’t believe me?
Just take a look at petite celebrities like Carrie Underwood, Eva Longoria, and Reese Witherspoon, petite fashionistas who demonstrate that rules are made to broken. Using these fabulous stylistas are inspiration, we put together a short list on how to break these rules.
Old School Rule: Short women shouldn’t wear color
New Rule:
- Wearing the same color on both top and bottom elongates your body. Choose a color that’s flattering to your natural tones, and add accessories, like jewelry and a purse, with splashes of color to spice it up.
- Match your shoe color to your outfit as well. If you wear black pants or tights, wearing black shoes can create the illusion of more length to your body.

First, let’s start off by saying this: there is absolutely nothing wrong with a flat chest, remember that from Audrey Hepburn to Keira Knightley, some of the most beautiful women of the past and present have turned heads without cleavage.
But in spite of the a-cup revolution, cleavage still makes a woman look and feel sexy. Curves help us look and fit better in our clothes and give us a more womanly appearance. Here are our tips for sexy cleavage (and none of them involve padding, stuffing or surgery!).

By the time spring hits, you’re in need of a major vacation from work, from cold weather and from the all-black ensembles you’ve been wearing (fabulously) all winter. You’re thinking of exotic destinations like Africa, Peru and India. Coincidentally, so are your favorite designers.
“En Exotic Journey” was the theme created by the color experts at Pantone, who put together the top ten hues for the season. It’s been a while since you saw these on the runways in September, so allow us to refresh your memory.
