Yves St. Laurent and Balenciaga to Target?

Incredible, but potentially true: Yves St. Laurent and Balenciaga could be the next and most high-end designers to collaborate with the budget-minded corporation (who we think is responsible for turning the word “collaboration” into the now ubiquitously abbreviated “collab”). But, there’s a twist… Up until now most of Target’s collabs have fallen under their Go International umbrella, but from here on out, designer labels that join Team Bullseye will be offered as part of their new partnership platform “The Shops at Target.” These stores within a store (to be rotated every six weeks) will be smaller versions of upscale boutiques like The Webster and Privet Home that offer luxury goods (like YSL or Balenciaga), including clothes, accessories, housewares, even items for the family pet! This new model will offer a whole new look and feel to the now coveted collabs, but will it work?

The items almost certainly won’t be made at the same place that real YSL or Balenciaga are made. So while it is tempting to own something with either label, I am not going to pay for what are essentially overpriced Made in China goods.
