Greetings Fashionistas,
I’m currently evaluating whether or not to continue with our weekly fashion and beauty newsletters. While I enjoy writing them and the high open rate indicates you guys enjoying reading them, they are costly and time intensive to produce. It order for us to make it work, we would have to charge a subscription fee- not a very desirable option. Plus I really like the interaction we have on the blog and on fashiongab.com
Instead of the newsletter, we’re looking into using the feedburner system, which allows you to receive updates of the TBF blog in your inbox. You can sign up for our feedburner feed in the upper left hand corner of the site.
However, BEFORE I make a final decision, I wanted to hear some of your comments, thoughts, reactions, etc.
Founded in 2003, TBF is a fashion blog dedicated to helping you live your best for less. We give you the 411 on the latest fashion trends & tips and sample sales.

TBF, I’m for whatever keeps you free! I’ll sign up for the feedburner system if you tell me what that is first.
I’m all about the free so I’d sign up for the feedburner.
Free works best for me and I think a big part of the attraction of TBF is seeing what the commenters say, so that’s another reason for keeping a blog.
I’d just as soon keep coming here rather than receive email, but email would be doable for me as long as you weren’t sharing, selling, or otherwise distributing your email address list to anyone other than yourself.
I agree with suz especially about the releasing of my email info to others. Just let us know whats best for you.
I would NEVER send your email address to anyone else. The feedburner/feedblitz system is an interface that allows readers to receive email updates of the site. Sort of like the program/interface we use to send out the newsletters. They don’t use the emails, in fact it’s illegal for them to do so.

I’m all for helping to clean out my inbox. It’s redundant anyway to have the email and then come to the blog and it’s posted. I always feel jipped when that happens.

I usually read the newslestters on the site anyways, for the comments. I see it in my mailbox and head on over.
I wish that you would simply post all of the info to the blog. I check everyday!

Hi BF – I read your articles all the time for tips…and I currently use RSS (somehow, maybe through Technorati?) to read it in my Google Personalized Home page. I’m in Silicon Valley so this is kinda natural for me, but that way I see your headlines and click into ‘em when I want. (and then I send some article to my girlfriends to confirm or deny your recommendations since I’m the fashion dorkwad in my group.)
Oh no.. the site isn’t going anywhere.. just trying to decide what to do about the newsletter. A final decision will be made this summer, but I just wanted to here your comments.
I signed up for the email newsletters, but I tend not to read them, because I know when I open TBF they would just be posted up there anyhow.. so I feel like it defeats the purpose. So I guess feedburner would be a better option. I wouldn’t want to pay for a subscription fee.

I will do every thing in my powers to keep the info for free. we’re going to change the site around a bit to add more relevant advertising- which will allow us to keep it free as well as add other things like the forum and see jack shop (which is fun to do.. so many budget options for men). Ask ANY advertiser and they will tell you- I am VERY picky about who gets to advertise on the site.
The comments will always stay up. I learn just as much from you guys as you do from me. We’re actually working on a ways to make the comment section even more interactive. One way is the addition of the recent comment section on the left tool bar. Plus we’re going to start an alert/feed that you can sign up for to get alerts when someone has posted a comment on the topic. We also added the fashiongab forum- where we can chat about stuff in more detail. I am we’re working on a way for you to add a personalized avatar (photo) to your comments.
For some reason I just don’t like the newsletters; they always seem like just Bits of information. I much more enjoy the blog posts on the site.
I personally love the newsletters and how it allows me to see everything that is there in an instant, but of course I’m for whatever option is free!

I do have an issue with feedburners, though, because they bombard your inbox with e-mails from what I understand. This has always been the case with others I have signed up for and I always end up canceling, unless you have found something different. Every time someone writes a comment you get an e-mail and it can be very overwhelming, especially with a popular site like yours. I remember one I signed up for and the very next hour I went to open my e-mail and had 60 feed burner e-mails from people who had commented on something posted to this particular forum. I had to get out of if immediately. If it’s different than that type, please let us know. Otherwise, not interested, I’ll just check in on the site on a regular basis.
