Yea or Nay: Fall 2007 Your Grandma’s Hats are Back

February 12, 2007

Marc Jacobs Fall 2007 collection

Hats were all over the runway during Fall 2007 fashion week, with the version shown above being one of the most common styles on the catwalk. Personally, I love the hat and I love Marc Jacobs (who had a pretty incredible show), so this is definitely a YEA in my book. What do you think?

Oh I love these hats (and Marc Jacobs’ Gatsby-esque collection in general)! I’m so excited that everyone is into hats again, but I have no idea how to wear them without always having to tilt my head back to see what’s going on. Also I never know what to do with my hair.

After seeing the pictures of Marc Jacobs’ show, any model without a hat seems partially dressed!  I was amazed at how much they add to an outfit; why did we ever stop wearing them?  So chic.  Any suggestions on how to wear them with spring/summer casual outfits?

Tailored hats give a polished look to any outfit. A definite YEA!!!! I would pair it with a very ornate pair of earrings.

I love hats.  I think it would be a great thing to have them come back in a big way.  They actually are a great way to take care of a bad hair day.  Vintage hats can be a signature piece.  I am known for my hats and am always on the lookout for a new “old” one.

Yea, absolutely. They’re so chic – and sexy without showing a thing.

I say yea!  I absolutely love the vintage 40’s clothing style.  It is so classy and sophisticated without being over the top.  I would love to wear a hat other than a baseball cap, but I do think I would feel like I was wearing a costume.  I’ll have to give it a try and see.

I have to agree with Jenny; I love the look, it’s incredibly chic and sophisticated, but I just don’t know how I’d wear it, and I wonder if it just wouldn’t work on a younger woman (I’m 20). I think they might just look costumey with any “normal” outfit.

I’m not a hat person so I have to say nay. But they are cute!

That hat’s gorgeous!  I hear that cloche-style hats aren’t flattering on most people, though.  Still, hats in general would be a great thing to have come back in style.

I really like hats, but I can never wear them. But I love that marc jacobs hat! I love Marc Jacobs, period.

I am getting married in March and I am searching for the perfect little hat with a veil to top my elegant ankle length dress & jacket. parchment white is the color I am looking for, plain but elegant is the look I am after.

Yuck! No Thanks. I like to see where I am going while I walk.

Hats are a definite Yea, especially here in the frigid Northeast. I wear them with my overcoats and an older gentleman complimented me on one last week. He said “I like your hat. You don’t see many ladies wearing hats any more.” Tip: spray just a little Static Guard in the hat before you put it on and it won’t mess your ‘do too horribly.

Accept for the fact I have Shirley Temple hair I love it!  I’ll save it for when I flat iron my hair.
