Yea or Nay: Acid Wash Jeans (what to buy Fall 2007?)

| July 23, 2007 10:15 AM | Posted in

Continuing with the 80’s comeback in fashion, acid wash jeans are back and there’s nothing you can do about it except pop in a Duran Duran tape and break out the Conair crimp iron.

Nay! 80’s fashion comebacks have already had made their mark distinctly.  Skinny jeans, Flashdance shirts, etc…..but not this——no acid wash….it’s just simply hideous. That look is gone and should be left behind with our 80’s memories

YAY!!!! I knew there was only a matter of time before they came back; every 20 years right? I personally like the jeans. I like anything I can rock with my stilettos. And yes I’m still wearing those too! Bring on the eighties!

What’s the saying…

If you remember when something came around the first time, you shouldn’t wear it when it ocmes around again.

If you’re too advanced in age, and you wear these, you’ll just look like you’re wearing faded jeans.

I don’t feel real good about this.  It reminds me of jr. high school, braces and jheri curls.

Cool 20 some-odd years ago. Bad now. Very, very, very bad.

I never post on these blogs, I usually just lurk about but THIS stopped me dead in my tracks!

NAY! NAY! NAY! Acid washed jeans?  Are you kidding me?  I’m not a big fan of the 80’s “comeback” but these are hideous!  What next?  Hammer pants?

NAY!!!  I may have braces again, but that doesn’t mean that I need to also DRESS like I did back in high school and college.

They’re no worse than they were last time.

Interesting that the sample TBF shows has that super-short rise (the fly zipper can’t be much more than 3 inches) still.

Nay for me personally.  I like a nice dark wash, even the “dry” (untreated) jeans that you see sometimes these days.

But unlike the ripped and thrashed finished jeans, or crocs, at least they don’t make others into an eyesore.  I imagine they’d even look cute when worn by teenagers who were too young to see the first round of the trend.

It’s just one of those things.  Right now,  I’m saying nay, but once my eyes get used to the acid wash, I’ll be saying yay along with Rhonda.

NAY! Are you kidding me? No one over the age of 12 should be wearing low-rise jeans let alone acid wash. I guess “Miami Vice” is next. Or mesh vests. Or how about Duran Duran hair? As Celine Dion sings, “It’s all coming back to me now ...” I just wish my “selective memory” would kick in. I lived the 1980s, I don’t care to revisit it. Are these designers insane? Oh, wait. They’re not old enough to remember it the first time around. DUH!

Nay for me personally. But Yay for young, hip and trendy. Hard to believe the stuff I wore in high school is old enough to warrant revival. I would love to see a return of the big, slouchy “Forenza” sweaters from The Limited.

Acid wash jeans sucked the first time around and I managed to live through the entire 80’s without owning a pair. I don’t see that changing now.

Duran Duran still rocks though.

Nay! I didn’t even like acid washed jeans in the 80s. Why do I have to be tortured by them again? Why?

Yay! lol I actually ordered these pants, then had to send them back because the fit was all wrong.  Then when I got the new pair they still didn’t fit so by this time I was pretty much over it.  Probably not a mistake on Urban Outfitter’s part, but more or less me thinking I can fit some tiny little jeans.  I’m an 80’s baby who was too young to actually revel in nonsense like this so I love it now!  If they go on sale anytime soon I’d be happy to buy them again…and in my size ;-)

Nay!  Nay!  Nay!

I am so ready for the 80’s to be over - again.

I say, keep with plain dark-wash jeans, mid-rise, boot cut or trouser cut, and plenty long.  They look great on just about everyone and won’t look dated next season or next year.
