I agree with the point about the proceeds not going to environmental causes…I have several of these which may be a couple too many. The most embarrasing thing is that I often forget to take the tote in to the store.  MY BAD.  It will be my New Year’s resolution!

The grocery store my husband and I use, Publix, has been selling canvas totes with their logo for less than $6.  They’re nice and deep, have a small pocket on the side, and have comfortable handles. 

We bought a few of them to use, not to be fashionable or even to be eco-friendly (though that’s certainly a bonus).  We just found them easier to use than those flimsy plastic bags that rip easily and dig into your hands.  Using the canvas bags, we make fewer trips from the car to the kitchen and our hands don’t get pinched by those plastic bag ‘handles’.

I’ve been using re-usable grocery bags since early this year, and I will never go back. I though it would be much more of a sacrifice thank it actually is.  While I applaud a good effort to get people to buy and RE-USE (a key point many seem to miss) tote bags, I’m on the fence about a profit margin. Mine were $30 for a five bag set with a manufacturer donation, but my man bought his mom several for Christmas from Whole Foods for 99¢ each, which I find much easier to agree with.
