When I think of Hubert de Givenchy (pronounced: jee-vaughn-shay ), I think of Audrey Hepburn outside of Tiffany’s decked out in that now classic black shift, pearls, sunglasses, and an impossibly chic blond streaked beehive. The stye icon’s partnership with Givenchy was one of the first public partnerships between an actress and a designer- he gave Audrey her style, she showcased his designs to the world. It was a partnership that lasted over 40 years (interesting fact: Givenchy thought he was going to meet and dress the other Hepburn (Kathryn), when he first the little known Audrey.)
Gone are the days of designers selecting one muse (they usually pick whoever happens to be “in"), but the house of Givenchy continues to live through fashion and perfume, which is celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary this year.
