What to Buy Fall 2007: Wide Leg Pants

Fall’s hot new bottom is the wide leg pants. The difference between wide leg pants and other, wider leg options like boot cut and flare jeans, is that wide leg pants fall straight from the hip, meaning the pants are as wide in the thigh as they are at the hem.

Where to get them (on a budget of course):

  • Et Vous Wide-leg Trousers, $69.99 at La Redoute
  • wide leg pants
Gap wide leg Pinstripped pants, $59.50
  • plus size wide leg jean
Plus Size Wide Leg jeans, $36.50 at OldNavy.com

I have loved these for years! With the trends in flares, boot-cut, and skinny jeans I have had such a hard time finding these pants. I am SO excited that I am finally going to be able to buy these. I can’t wait until it trickles down to places like Target, where I can afford it. (I’m a grad student, $70 pants is way too much for my budget).

Another place to get wide legs is Delia’s. It’s geared towards the younger crowd but has extended sizes and good sales.

I have to keep digging, because I haven’t found any yet, much less wide leg jeans! Maybe the stores will have more next month, with the fall clothes rolling out. :)

Also, sometimes JC Penney of all places has wide trouser denim pants. And Express MIGHT, but the quality is getting very bad there. Love these!

Finally! A new trend that doesn’t make me want to curl up under my bed and die. All the pants pictured here look comfortable and stylish. I’ll be on the lookout for some for myself!

Cute!  What is the best shoe to wear with these?  I see that the middle model has flats, but I’m 5’5 and I wonder if flats would be the best option for a shorter person?

I just got a pair of wide leg jeans at New York and Company. They were having a a buy one get one %50 off on denim so they were $20. Their sizes tend to run large. All they had left were size 4’s so I took a risk because I am normally a size 6 or 8 but the fit beautifully.
