I need a day at the beach to take care of this allergy attack that I’ve been dealing with this week.  I’ve also been training for the Nike Women’s marathon in October, as well as raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  GO TEAM!  And working at a software company that’s getting ready to release 2 updates to 2 different products.

I need a day at the beach!!! Why? Because I am a computer programmer at a site full of incompetence…I was hired for one job and I have had to pick up the slack in other areas…I need this day because I found out today that my transfer to another site will be held up because the client hasn’t moved on their action items…but what takes the cake is that my vacay to Dallas and the spa is on the verge of being cancelled….I’ve been working nonstop (weekends included) for the past month…yeah I NEED a day at the beach!!!!!!

I would love a day at the beach as I have not been to one in the past couple of years.  Ever since I decided to go back to school to pursue my PhD, I am exhausted (besides being on a tight budget).

I would love a day at the beach.  I was laid off in February and have been unsuccessful in finding a new job.  So money is getting tight and I am out of Barnes & Noble gift cards so it would be great to get some new reading material that would take me away!  No real beaches within a several thousand mile radius so getting to a beach would be a treat in itself!  Thanks!

I need a day at the beach because I’m stressed out!  I just moved (finally) but now I have to unpack, still go to work, start auditioning again(I’m an actress; I took a month off to find some place to live!), make it to class and the gym, and still have friends!  I’m busy and I need a little break so I don’t burn out!

I need a day a the beach to get away from the daily grind of work and the kids; however, that would involve at least an eight hour drive to get to the coast (live in TN).  But I could see myself carrying the Dooney at the local lake. Enjoy reading your site daily BF!!

I need a day at the beach b/c i work 70+ hours a week and if I do get a day off, I’m too tired to drive to the beach for fear I’ll fall asleep on the GSP.  I don’t want to put others lives at risk for my own selfish reasons so I just do without.  Would love to head down the shore before the end of the summer.

Why do I need a day at the beach… I LOVE the beach. I just bought “How to be a Budget Fashionista” and am dying to lounge by the shore line and tan it up with this awesome book. I work monday through friday from 9 to 5 as a senior assistant and I’m tingling with excitement to wear some of the beautifully BF swimsuits I conjured up from the poorly stocked back racks of the barren petite sale sections. I will be returning to classes on the 24th of August since I’m starting my last and hardest year of college and finally earning my Bachelors. I absolutely need a beach day!!

I need a day at the beach because I love reading by the water, while digging my feet in the sand and not have to worry about mosquitoe bites at the end of the day.  Also, the beach gives you the best tan!

I have not spent a single day this summer relaxing YET. I had a vacation scheduled for June but my Mom needed surgery so I spent my vacation with her in the hospital and than at home taking care of her. To make matters worse, my husband and I had to postpone our honeymoon twice this summer (June and July) because of work schedules. I am stressed out beyond belief and just need a day of lying on the sand without a care in the world. Please PICK ME!

I need a day at the beach because I’ve been sick for a year. It’s been really hard, I’ve missed a year of school, and I’ve been stuck inside a lot. It would be nice to spend a day soaking up all the sun I’ve missed over the year and just relaxing and forgetting about all my health concerns.

I need a day at the beach, because for two years I have been indoors in a hospital, as I was fighting for my life. I went through aggressive chemotherapy to kill the tumor for 4 months. I was barely in remission before I relapsed again within 3 months of my last treatment. When I relapsed I needed even aggressive chemo which did not work and I had to go through a bone marrow transplant, which turns blood to water. I barely barely survived the treatment and I still needed more. I went through high dose radiation for six weeks. My underarms had gashes. I have a double lumen broviac that prohibits me from showering and swimming. I need a day on the
beach, because no one deserves this, specially when one is just stepping into teenage…....

Now that I am off treatment, technically in remission, I want to restart my life fresh, rejuvenated and happy. How can sun and sand not make me happy when I have craved outdoors through the hospital window.

I just found this site and I am a first time poster!  I am a high school teacher and I need one last hurrah before I face the masses who are not particulary excited about giving up the lazy days of summer.  I could sachee myself with that fabulous bag to the beach, the lake, or even my local pool to escape one last time before the craziness begins.  Sounds lovely….

Ooh… fun contest!  I soooo need a day away!  I am a stay at home mom to a 6 and 8 year old.  This summer I’ve catered to them a lot driving them back and forth to various lessons and stuff, but never having a day to myself.  I am beyond stressed with going back to school later this month (after almost 2 years off), and would love a last hurrah.  Plus… I’d really love the D&B bag!

Wow. Sounds like everyone here could really use a day at the beach. It’s remarkable to read everyone’s stories of stress - it makes me realize that I’m not the only one who feels like they’re a hamster on a wheel.

I am also reminded that I need to take some time here and there to be good to myself. Even though there will be only one winner, I hope that each and every one of my fellow stressed-out commenters finds little moments of calm in the storm.

Hi! I could definitely use a weekend at the beach, or even just a day! I’d be happy to get away for an afternoon even. I work in critical care medicine and have been under a lot of pressure. I also work at an animal hospital so between the two jobs I am at work about 12 hours a day. I am planning a fundraiser for the non profit group I work with, volunteer at events during the evening or on weekends, and am basically always on the go! I know that probably doesn’t sound like much; so here is the real reason I would like to win: my best friend has thyroid cancer and she is being inundated with medical bills. She is stressed to the max and I think it would be great if she and I could get away, and even better if I won this super cool present for her! (She’s a big DB fan so this would be perfect!)

As a loyal reader of your site, I really took to heart your “Being Broke Ain’t Cute” series. I’m 32, and I’ve finally realized that even more important than looking fabulous—though that’s certainly a priority!—is having an inner reserve of peace from knowing that my financial house is in order. I faced my situation, contacted ALL of my creditors, and have put myself on a schedule to clear my $30,000 of student loan/car/credit card/tax debt in 30 months. One down, 29 to go…

In short, I deserve a day at the beach because I have decided to forego luxury in favor of solvency, which means I won’t get any extras—like a vacation—unless I win a contest! :-)

I really need a day at the beach. I am a full time student who had to give up my last two semesters to help out my mom while she got an surgery. Her recovering period is three months, so I am working her cleaning jobs of some houses and an office building.  I am happy to do it, because it’s my mom. But it can be stressful, which a day at the beach can cure:)

Top ten reasons I need a day at the beach:

10. I have a dozen reports due to a client in the next two weeks…

9. ...but most of the support staff were cut which means more work for me

8. I was the middle car in a three-car collision a few days ago

7. I’m 4.5 months pregnant (which made #8 really scary)

6. Thanks to #7, I have lingering nausea, heartburn, and swollen ankles

5. I also have developed a super sense of smell and strange cravings/aversions. Beachy salt air, sunscreen, lemonade and ice cream are all on my “good smell/taste” list however!

4. Thanks to the pregnancy/post-accident restrictions, I haven’t been able to do much around the house, so our office/nursery is still 100% office and my husband is a bit overwhelmed.

4. I’m starting to look like a whale, but at the beach there are always at least a few people who look worse :)

3. Long hours at work coupled with sticky weather mean I’ve avoided the sun….for months. I’m shockingly pale.

2. Reading something non-work-related would be a vacation in and of itself.

1. I really haven’t treated myself to anything recently and it’d be nice to remember I’m not just an office drone/incubator.
