Since his international debut in 1962 in Florence, Valentino has created a fashion empire that has been considered as one of the most famous around the world. This Italian designer, whose real name is Valentino Garavani is a Paris educated designer that had his apprenticeships under famous designers such as Balenciaga, Jean Desses and Guy Laroche. Known for his extravagant dresses and gowns that shows intricately designed details and body conscious silhouettes; his designs are considered to be timeless- his vintage pieces continues to draw attention even up to this day. Among his famous design was the wedding dress that Jackie Kennedy wore to her wedding with Aristotle Onassis. Since 2007, Valentino has formally retired from his company. Former Gucci designer Alessandra Facchinetti has been named as the head of the fashion label until spring of 2009 but at present Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli has been named as the creative directors of the company.
