Valentine’s Day is upon us, but that’s no reason to step out in all things lovey-dovey, frilly and red, is it?  Too much is too much, right?  Time for some untraditional Valentine’s Day tops.

Heart-shaped jewelry, chocolates and balloons are one thing, but must we feel compelled to look like a human Valentine card just because it’s February 14th?

Now before you think I’m some kind of anti-Valentine’s Day person who looks the other way when love comes ‘a knockin . . . I’m definitely not.  I’m happily in love with my boyfriend.  We leave little notes for each other and have cute habits that cause others to roll their eyes, complete with the finger-in-mouth gag gesture.

But I digress.  I’m a Valentine’s Day fan for sure.  I just don’t think ladies should feel like head-to-toe red is a must.  Or red anything for that matter, as you see in the slideshow below.

Untraditional Valentine’s Day Tops We Love

Here are a few tops that I found.  There are tops that convey our “wild” side or our romantic and playful side.  They’re pretty and, for the most part, are on the dressy yet simple side.  Some are even (gasp) black!

Missing are tops littered with pictures of heart-shaped cupcakes, floral patterns and cupid-anything.  Not even kittens.  Sorry.

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!
