Over the Top Hats
Playing on the masses’ fascination with fascinators, designers chose to take headwear to new heights for Fall 2012. Skyhigh raver top hats and fluffy-textured floppy hats at Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors have us reminiscing of Deon from cult-classic Clueless. Structured chapeaus like mini fedoras and jockey-esque cloches seen on the Donna Karan and Tracy Reese runways are easier to wear in the real world, and are sure to pop up all over street-style blogs.
Marc by Marc Jacobs Striped Rabbit Knit Hat, $98 from Bergdorf Goodman
While it may be hard to pull off the whimsical Suess-style seen on runways, fur hats in neutral shades are the perfect way to parlay the trend into everyday wear.
Pistol Chloe Cap, $16.99 from 6pm
Tiny-brimmed caps add a sporty, menswear-inspired vibe to any outfit. Replace Spring’s baseball hat trend with mod hats styled after jockey helmets for Fall.
