The Look for Less: The Color of the Year

The Pantone Color Institute announced that blue iris (pictured above) is their color of the year for 2008. Last year, it was chili pepper red. So get ready to get creative this year with deep calming blues. Decorate with willow ware, which is expensive if you buy it as an antique, but look around for modern reproductions. Deep beautiful blues can be found in enamel and porcelain cookware and in Asian inspired patterns. Or look ahead to the summer and think nautical.

TJ Max’s home store often has affordable willow ware plates for $4.99 or less (individual stores vary. Or check out ebay. Bidding on this willow ware vase begins at $19.99.
