What: Target launched a scannable mobile coupon program. Guests can opt-in to the program on their PC at Target.com/mobile, on their phone at m.target.com or by texting COUPONS to 827438 (TARGET). After opt-in, guests receive a text message with a link to a mobile Web page that contains multiple offers, all accessible through a single barcode. Offers are single use and expire on the date listed.
What They Say: The scannable mobile coupon program allows guests to receive exclusive offers directly on their mobile phones. Coupons are redeemed by scanning a barcode on the phone at checkout.
What We Say Is it just us, or does it seem like every time you walk into a Target, you walk out of the store spending twice as much as you expected? So you can imagine how excited we were to hear about their new mobile coupon program, especially since the store has been kinda of stingy on the coupon front in the past. What do you think?

Yes, because the average working mother of a load of children often has a device with an Internet data plan to whip out and have her coupons scanned.
This is unrealistic for Target’s audience. I’m 23 and would love to do this. The problem? A coupon really isn’t worth it if I need pay $2 to access it.
I love it. My only problem is that whenever I go to stores with new apps like these it seems that while the national headquarters may be promoting it, the clerks in the store don’t always know about it.
So I hope they have an impromptu training session on these coupons!
YIPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! Now I have ANOTHER excuse to keep going to Target!!!!!! I LOVE YOU TARGET!!!!!!!!
This is great! I love Target and it is exactly what the target audience needs and requires in this digital age. Fashion 2.0 we call it. And I love how Target is always a step ahead of its competitors.
It is unlikely that a mother with a load of children will be shopping at Target. They do not carry the price points for that audience. You can expect more, but pay less at this higher end discount department store.
