Stuart Weitzman’s Celebrity Shoe Auction

September 15, 2007

Looking for a way to turn your shoe fetish into something more than an overstuffed closet? Stuart Weitzman is giving you a chance to do just that with the seventh annual Celebrity Shoe Auction, this year benefitting the fight against ovarian cancer. You can bid on fantastic, fantasy stilettos and support a great cause at the same time.

Celebrities tapped to play the role of designer this time around include high-rollers like Oprah, Queen Latifah, Charlize Theron, Vanessa Williams, Courtney Cox-Arquette, and more. The lowest current bid? Two hundred bucks, but there’s no price tag on saving lives, right?

Click here to see all the shoes on the block. The auction will continue throughout the month of September, which just happens to be Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

I don’t get it. So these shoes are not for wearing since the auction doesn’t indicate sizes.

the point is that it goes to charity (and yes helps promote stuart weitzman). It’s for display and if worse comes to worse you can sell it on eBay

Most of them are pretty cute, or at least understandable, but I’m a bit baffled by Kyle MacLachlan’s design. Anyone have an idea how it’s supposed to work on a foot? Is it a thong sandal?

I suspect that these are the types of shoes you’d put on display somewhere, rather than wear on your feet.  I think it’s a neat idea, great way to raise some money for charity.  It would actually be a fun thing for a bunch of girlfriends to do—maybe grab a show whose mate has gone bad, and fix up the suriving shoe in some artistic way, then maybe swap.
