Street Fashion 101: Color Power

October 4, 2007

The Budget Fashionista teams with Streetpeeper.com to bring you style lessons from trend-setters on the street.

The Look: On the streets of London, this fashionista is hitting a whole bunch of big fall trends here – the tie-neck blouse (in turquoise – very current), tailored gray, a high waist. Labels? Not a one in the bunch, as she’s created her ensemble from what Londoner’s call “charity shops” – better known as “thrift stores” to those of us in the Colonies.

For the Style File: The biggest lesson here? Color, color, color. This turquoise grabs attention without being overbearing, just a beautiful pop against a neutral foundation. And before you say anything (you know you want to) – we can’t quite get behind the canvas sneakers, either. Sleek pumps would be our preference – and, who knows, maybe she’s got them in her purse.

Those sneakers are a mess but I love the blouse and shorts.

The outfit looks great from the ankles up. But a girl’s gotta walk(I quickly figured that out after a 3 hour shopping trip in 4” heels)so we’ll just say the heels are in the bag.

I wonder if those sneakers are her walking shoes and she has something better in one of those bags.

That turquoise is great with her hair color.  Its all very vibrant without being clownish.  But I also hope that she has better shoes in her bag.
