Street Fashion 101: A Lesson in Accessories

Another lesson from the woman-on-the-street, featured on from the frenzy of New York’s Fashion Week:

Please, please, please take note: your accessories (i.e. bag, shoes, belt) do NOT need to “match.” I promise. Here, against the blank canvas of a neutral dress (grey is super-hot) we’ve got a pop of yellow in the form of an oversized Aldo bag, paired with shoes that kick “matching” to the curb, an animal print peep-toe from Stella McCartney.

And don’t worry, budget stylistas, you don’t to have high-price designer pieces like these to be put together. Bold colored hobo bags and leopard print shoes are as affordable as your nearest department store. Mix and match to look fearlessly fashionable.

You can find shoes that look EXACTLY like these at Target online.  I bought a pair on clearance in the store for five dollars.

In shoes, I find the best policy is to get wacky prints/ or solid styles with quirky additions like bows in styles that you really like in mid-end versions like stuart weitzman, or urban outfitters and not focus on trends… what you like and not what anna (wintour) thinks is a la moment. The mid end shoes are made with really soft leathers alot like high end shoes, except they are made by machines and not by shoemakers which makes little difference in quality but alot in cost… They are so much more comfy. Invest in quality for your feet. They thank you.

    Hey, TBF!

YOU have got 2 find a bag that looks like that except cheaper! I’m a total color freak, but I’m a student and can’t really afford anything more than a Dior mascara right now. thanks!    McKayla
