Street Fashion 101: Festive Dressing

| December 7, 2007 01:00 AM | Posted in

The Budget Fashionista and Streetpeeper.com continue our mission to bring you fashion notes from style-savvy women on the street.

The Look: In NYC, a mix of designer and vintage—red dress by Diane VonFurstenberg, Chanel bag, YSL purple peep toes, vintage fur trimmed coat.

For the Style File: This is the time of year that dressing up for events means putting a little effort into being bright and festive. If you want to maintain your fashionista edge, however, skip the sequined Christmas tree sweater and try this instead—don some rich, bold color (on sophisticated pieces and with a neutral foundation) to be eye-catching without being mistaken for the holiday decor. While her look is designer, picking up a solid color sheath dress is just as easy to do on the cheap, and can even be had at a second-hand shop if you take the time to look. And the coat is a lesson, too—instead of competing with the outfit, it completes it—and the length (just past the hem of the dress) creates a clean silouette.
