Sofa Pillow Style Under $20: The Look for Less

Sofas are expensive, and a stylish inexpensive one is difficult to obtain. While searching for sofa inspiration, we stumbled upon this fantastic living room configuration (pictured above) by former HGTV Design Star contestant Adriana Nussbaumer. Suddenly, a light bulb went off. You can get the look of the sofa for much less if you get creative with pillows.

Spunky pillows can breathe new life into a hand-me-down from another era if that’s all you’ve got. To mimic this style, all that you need is a sofa with a back. Then ditch the cushions it came with (or save one) and add other pillows of a different size to fill the empty space. Add a few accent pillows with contrasting colors and designs, and you’ve got one jazzed up sofa! To get you started, here are some pillows that won’t bust your budget.

fauxfur

No cute, purple animals were harmed in creating this funky faux fur pillow from FadFusion.com ($3.99).

fleeceshag

A great alternative to shag, these fleece pillows ($19.99) add a lot of texture and plenty of softness. They are available in asparagus or camel from Posh Posada.

croc

These fabulous embossed croc pillows from Overstock.com come in pairs for $29.99, and are available in a range of lovely neutral colors.

bamboo

For a splash of color and a modern casual look, this bamboo throw pillow ($14.99) comes in a cheery lime green at Wrapables.com.

abstract

These abstract gold and burgundy pillows ($14) on Welldressedhome.com can create a glamorous look.

ruched

This adorable ruched pillow ($9.99) from Target.com is actually part of a bed set, but we won’t tell if you won’t.

I’m going to try this for my kids this weekend. I’ve been trying to get them to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. No luck on the veggies but this might do the trick to get them to try some new fresh fruits such as peaches or raspberries (like you suggest using). I “stumble”d across this site. It’s great.
