Victoria’s Secret: Shopping Tips & Channeling Your Inner Angel

Exterior of Victoria's Secret store

Victoria’s Secret is like the Holy Grail of sexy. Maybe it’s because your BFFs Alessandra Ambrosio and Chanel Iman are there to shop with you, or maybe it’s because you somehow always look so good in the dressing room mirrors.

Whatever it is, a girl could blow a lot of money in the famed retailer, but not necessarily on the right items. Get the most out of your Victoria’s Secret shopping experience with these tips.

Victoria’s Secret Shopping Hacks

Get sized first

A very sweet sales attendant is waiting near the dressing rooms with measuring tape in hand to make sure you select the right bras for you. A shocking number of women are buying the wrong size, so before you fill your dressing room (or online shopping cart) with ill-fitting bras, ask for help.

After she fits you, she’ll even bring you a selection of bras that cater to your specific needs.

Online vs. in-store

Save this

Enter your email below and I'll email this post to you!

When you know you want to buy something from VS, always check prices both online and in-store. They tend to be different, and you don’t want to pay more than is necessary.

You only have to worry about shipping costs if you’re spending less than $100 — and sometimes not even then. The online store sometimes offers seasonal free shipping deals. Right now (July 2019), there are two such deals posted on the site. You can get free shipping on anything in the new fall collection with code PREVIEWSHIP or you can get free shipping on orders of $50 or more with code SHIP50.

Shop the semi-annual sale (now)

If $50 seems like too much for a bra, shop the semi-annual sale to get that bra for $15. The sale shows up in stores in June and December and usually lasts for two weeks in-store.

But here’s a little secret. Those fabulous sale prices hang around online for a little longer. It’s true! It’s July now and there are still semi-annual prices posted on the website. All the merch in this post is on sale, which means the time to move is now.

Never pay full price

You don’t have to sign up for a store credit card to score exclusive deals. Victoria’s Secret sends out crazy amounts of emails to loyal shoppers offering discounts on just about everything in the store. Sign up for their emails online or in the store and save big. If you’re patient, you’ll never need to buy anything at VS for full price.

Don’t rush (unless it’s on sale!)

If it’s the bra you’ve wanted since you first saw it in the catalog and it’s on sale, then by all means, get it before it’s gone. If it’s a sundress you saw online, don’t feel the need to pounce. The apparel online tends to stick around awhile.

Even swimsuits stay around for years at Victoria’s Secret. So if you’re hard on cash, wait it out. It’ll be there later.

Angel Rewards

As you’d expect, VS does have a rewards program. The downside is that it’s tied to a Victoria’s Secret credit card. We don’t love store credit cards, even the ones that give you perks — because that’s how they hook you into overspending.

But if you always only shop for clothes, foundation pieces and beauty at Victoria’s Secret, the credit card is an option for you. You earn 1 point for each $1, and you can cash them in for a $10 or $15 cash reward at 250 points.

Channel your inner angel

If you’re like us, then you’ve got your favorite VS Angel (we’re often temped to buy something just because Alessandra’s wearing it). Yes, they’re gorgeous beyond reasonable measure, but Victoria’s Secret models are so personable that it feels like they’re at our level.

You can get to know them even better by checking out VS All Access. Candice shares what she thinks is sexy while Adriana shows you how to use the brand’s new makeup palette. Plus, you can learn about all the ladies and the crazy shopping sprees and other prizes. If only for the fun of it, we think it’s worth a few minutes of your time.

It's sooo true about their emails. I've never ONCE paid full price at VS, and this coming from a girl who owns at least 75% of their 2010 catalog :)
